Description
EuroArt-Trading Welcome to Euro Art Trading which promotes beautiful and original hand-made works of art coming directly from Europe. We explore the most fascinating regions of Europe to offer you unique products of the old time manufactures. One of those wonderful, quaint regions is Warmia and Mazury located in the north-eastern Poland, formerly known as East Prussia. Here, among undulating fields and crystal-clear lakes, its inhabitants have built their summer residences surrounded by the stunning gardens and parks giving them peace and quiet and a sense of security. And here, in the 18th century, a marvelous Palace in Nakomiady arose for whose needs a ceramics manufacture making bricks from local clay has been established soon. Our collection is composed with nine miniature stoves serving as chandeliers. We also offer candlesticks and decorative ceramic tails. New to our collection will be the big stoves, the reconstructions of the old time palace originals, which we plan to introduce to you in a close future. Each product is hand painted, kept in coloristic specific for its times. Each of them has its own name and is a true copy of a big historical original. The production process using traditional techniques is very time-consuming and takes a month to finish one miniature. Our products perfectly compose with the warm house interiors and can serve as peculiar and unforgettable gifts. We are the only distributor of this product in USA Visit us at www.euroarttrading.com THE ITEM OF THIS AUCTION IS: Classicist Stove - Uphagen House in Gdansk, circa 1775 - small trading post. History On June 21st, 1775, Johan Uphagen purchased the property of Długa Street in Danzig and ordered alternations to the building set out in the 45 paragraphs of the contract with the Master Builder Johan Beniamin Dreyer for the total sum of 22 thousand Danzig guldens. On October 16th, 1779 at six in the evening, Uphagen and his wife moved into their new home. The work in the townhouse had not yet been completed and only on January 24th, 1787 did the Uphagens and their guests get to celebrate the Uphagens’ wedding anniversary in the lounge of the then recently finished interior of the house. This stove heated the room of the merchant trading post, located on the ground-floor of this elegant townhouse. The front wall of the stove’s lower level is covered with a decoration consisting of an oval medallion with two flaming torches, suspended on ribbons. Below, there is a bust of bearded man.
