Description
EuroArt-Trading Welcome to Euro Art Trading which promotes beautiful and original hand-made works of art coming directly from Europe. We explore the most fascinating regions of Europe to offer you unique products of the old time manufactures. One of those wonderful, quaint regions is Warmia and Mazury located in the north-eastern Poland, formerly known as East Prussia. Here, among undulating fields and crystal-clear lakes, its inhabitants have built their summer residences surrounded by the stunning gardens and parks giving them peace and quiet and a sense of security. And here, in the 18th century, a marvelous Palace in Nakomiady arose for whose needs a ceramics manufacture making bricks from local clay has been established soon. Our collection is composed with nine miniature stoves serving as chandeliers. We also offer candlesticks and decorative ceramic tails. New to our collection will be the big stoves, the reconstructions of the old time palace originals, which we plan to introduce to you in a close future. Each product is hand painted, kept in coloristic specific for its times. Each of them has its own name and is a true copy of a big historical original. The production process using traditional techniques is very time-consuming and takes a month to finish one miniature. Our products perfectly compose with the warm house interiors and can serve as peculiar and unforgettable gifts. We are the only distributor of this product in USA Visit us at www.euroarttrading.com THE ITEM OF THIS AUCTION IS: Gdansk Stove - Nakomiady Palace - Mistress' Study, begining of XVIII century. History In 1653, the Branderburg Elector Frederick Wilhelm granted the Nakomiady estate – (the German name is Eichmadien) to the Branderburg diplomat, Johan von Hoverbeck, for his contributions to freeing Prussians cities from the influence of the Polish Crown. During 1664 – 1680 the new owners built the first palace – in the Baroque style of architecture – based on the remaining parts of the foundations from a 1496 defensive manor. The Warsaw architect Józef Piola gave this palace its final shape in 1705. Johan von Hoverbeck traveled frequently. His obligations with respect to the Elector meant that he spent a great deal of time in Warsaw, at the court of the Polish king. Accordingly, his wife spent many months in solitude, next to the warm stove, which had to replace the warmth of her conjugal bed. Painted scenes on the stove refer to images from trips that her husband used to take her on, before he became so totally consumed with politics. However, she always could write letters to her beloved husband, who in turn always answer. She stored all his letters at the top of the stove, to protect them from prying eyes of her sister.
