Description
As if by Magic... When I started fiddling with polymer clay in the early 70's, I had no idea that years later, with no art training, I would find myself creating lovely animal sculptures.  The twin techniques I've developed are teachable so others like yourself can do what I do.  I have found in teaching others that long years of practice are not necessary to learn this new way to sculpt.  Last week I had the delight of teaching a number of boys and girls and their parents how to make these seahorses.  I had just finished with the text and final details for this kit.  So I was anxious to try it out.  I was glad to see they easily picked up each step as we did them together.  Obviously, their first seahorses weren't like mine, but quickly they began to make their next ones more smoothly and felt free to inject their own individuality into their creations.  Best of all, they began to connect with the actual animal they were forming. This kit contains enough polymer clay to make four seahorses, each four inches tall which is about the actual size of a Florida seahorse.  I've included tinted clay which you'll use to color your seahorses to add authenticity and artistic interest to your miniature sculpture.  The instruction  booklet has full color photos of each step of the process and descriptive text.  Within the writing I explain my connection with seahorses and interesting facts on their life in the ocean.  Also a  hand-drawn template for the actual sizes of each step.  These will be the notes you will learn to play to complete the melody which will be your finished seahorse.  Additionally there is a full page color enlargement of my posed seahorse to help you along the way.  And finally, four bamboo sticks which I use if I choose to display my artwork with a plant. Polymer clay is a very user-friendly, non-toxic material;  all you'll need are your hands, a flat surface, a kitchen oven,  and most importantly your desire to try something brand new.  This is my third art kit, joining my seashell and snail kits. I have designed them all for children and adults who would love to do sculpture, but feel they don't have the ability even to draw a straight line.  It is my conviction and experience that with guidance and encouragement we all can create art. Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts.  My wish is to give you hope that you too can do what I've done.  Please email me if you'd like to know more. Annie
